KANSAS VOTERS PRIVATE DATA EXPOSED
Voter’s party affiliation and residence address open to public
The State of Kansas provides a voter status viewer. This application requires only a voter’s name, last name and date of birth to access it. Any person with such information could then access any voter’s residence address, party affiliation and voter’s voting history.
KANSAS VOTING SYSTEMS USING OUT-OF-DATE SOFTWARE
Out-of-date software is unprotected and vulnerable to security risks
Kansas counties use ES&S voting systems deploying end of life software (Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2) which is no longer supported by Microsoft. Regular security updates ended on January 14, 2020. Unprotected software is vulnerable to malicious actions (hacking, viruses) and could lead to the disruption of elections.

VULNERABILITIES WITH ELECTRONIC POLLBOOKS
Voting equipment connected to the Internet is at risk of getting hacked
Some Kansas counties, including Johnson and Sedgwick, use E-PollBooks (EPB). Kansas Legislative Research Department (KLRD) - a nonpartisan, objective research center for election Security, found that neither state statutes nor rules and regulations provide guidance on their use, security, or maintenance. Further, KLRD points out the risks of EPBs using the Internet, echoing the concerns of “Brennan Center for Justice” and “The Center for Internet Security”.
