MISSISSIPPI USES UNCERTIFIED AND OUTDATED VOTING MACHINES
Old and uncertified voting systems pose a high risk of rigging or hacking
Mississippi law does not require any certification of voting machines for use in Mississippi. The state doesn’t test, certify, or recommend any voting system. The lack of a law regulating voting systems has resulted in the vast majority of Mississippi counties using the same old and outdated voting systems for almost 20 years (Accuvote OS, Accuvote TSX).
Mississippi serves as the testing ground for small voting machine companies like ‘VotingWorks’ whose machines aren’t certified by the federal Election Assistance Commission. It debuted in Choctaw County in 2019 and continues to be its provider.

FIVE LOCAL OFFICIALS CONVICTED OF VOTER FRAUD
An alderman, judicial candidate, and city clerk attempted to rig a municipal election
A judicial candidate, Courtney Rainey, was convicted on charges of voter intimidation and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Rainey also schemed to bribe voters with gift cards and cash; she received the sentence because, during the case, she threatened witnesses and never took responsibility for her crimes. Alderman Andre Canton pled guilty to conspiracy to commit voter fraud with Rainey and resigned from his position.

21 PEOPLE CONVICTED OF VOTER FRAUD SINCE 2003
Twenty-one people have been convicted of buying votes since 2003
Buying votes consists of paying voters to cast an in-person or absentee ballot vote for a particular candidate. According to a U.S Department of Justice study, over the past decade, the District Courts of Mississippi ranked 18th among the 93 U.S. attorneys’ offices nationwide for public corruption convictions, this includes vote-buying.
