OREGON LEAKING VOTER PERSONAL DATA

Voter’s private data exposed by weak login requirements

The State of Oregon provides an online voter lookup to allow users to check their voter status. In order to access any voter’s profile, the website requests voter’s name, last name and date of birth. By submitting these easily achievable data, any user could obtain a voter’s physical address and party affiliation.

OREGON COUNTIES ARE USING A LONG-DISCONTINUED MACHINE

Old voting equipment is vulnerable to being hacked

Despite Oregon being a fully vote-by-mail state, it does require voting scanners to tabulate the votes.

Seven Counties are still using an outdated and defective voting machine (Model 650 from ES&S) which was replaced in other Oregon Counties due to its age and history of failures. One of the latest Oregon Counties that replaced it, did recommend not to give its old version away to another County. A 2018 report from ‘DEF CON’ concluded that Model 650 is vulnerable to remote attacks that grant access to the voting machine.

OREGON VOTER’S DATABASE LEAKED AND SOLD

OR 2018 Voter’s database has been sold on hacking forums since November 2018

In November 2018, hackers leaked over 3 million voter’s confidential data from Oregon. Compromised data includes: Voter IDs, full names, Physical Addresses, Previous Addresses, DOB, Genders, Voter Status, Voter History and Phone numbers.

ALL MAIL-IN VOTING LEADS TO VOTER FRAUD CONVICTIONS

Mail-in voting leads to ten duplicate voting convictions in 2016 presidential election

Possible voter fraud cases were sent to the Department of Justice from the Secretary of State in September 2017; the ten voter fraud convictions happened in 2019. Duplicate voting is a Class C felony in OR, but all these cases resulted in a violation and a fine.

FLAWS WITH BALLOT HARVESTING LEAVES ELECTION VULNERABLE

Mishandled ballots and targeted ballot collections can influence elections

No statute prevents a person from collecting ballots; the only stipulation is that the ballots are turned in within two days of collecting the ballot. In 2019, a political action committee was fined almost $95,000 for a failure to turn in ballots that the PAC collected. County election officials sell voter lists that are updated daily with the status of a voter’s ballot; this allows organized ballot collectors to focus on where to turn their attention to collect ballots.

Oregon Constitutional Preamble
