INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATIONS CAUSE CONFUSION FOR MAIL-IN BALLOTS
450,000 Fairfax County residents received ballot applications with the wrong return address
An independent organization, Center for Voter Information, sent out absentee ballot applications with pre-paid postage return envelopes. The address on the return envelopes is addressed to the City of Fairfax, not Fairfax County. Fairfax County issued a press release stating applications received from the center’s incorrect mailing address will be processed; the Virginia Department of Elections noted the same thing.

TWO CAMPAIGN STAFFERS CHARGED WITH VOTER FRAUD
Staffers for the Scott Taylor campaign are accused of forging voter signatures
Two staffers working on Taylor’s 2nd Congressional District campaign were implicated in getting a third-party spoiler candidate on a November ballot in 2018. The charges lead to candidate Shaun Brown being removed from the race. Lauren Peabody, one staffer, pleaded guilty to woeful neglect of election duties; the second staffer, Roberta Marciano, faces two counts of election fraud.

VIRGINIA VOTING SYSTEMS ARE USING OUTDATED SOFTWARE
Voting systems relying on outdated software are at risk of being hacked
Virginias´s current voting equipment is from ES&S (56 counties), Dominion (4 counties), Hart Intercivic (18 counties) and Unisyn (34 counties). Last certified systems are ES&S EVS 6.0.4.0, Unisyn OpenElect 1.3, Hart Intercivic Verity 2.3 and Dominion Democracy Suite 4-14E and Accuvote.
All these systems are using end of life software (Windows 7, Microsoft Server 2008, Centos 5, Apache Tomcat 6 web server, Java 6) which are vulnerable to hacking as they no longer receive security patches.

VA VOTERS PORTAL EASILY ACCESIBLE
Weak logins expose VA voter’s physical address
The State of Virginia provides an online application to allow users to check their voter status. This application requires the voter’s name, date of birth, locality and last 4 of SSN. Any person with such information could then access a voter’s home address, voter id, vote absentee by mail status, show the ballot and the voter history. To update the voter record or apply to Vote Absentee ballot by Mail, you need the entire SSN number and the Driver’s License, that information can be obtained from the state, open sources, data brokers, darknet or data breaches.
